Here the clients were fed up with their existing decking area. It had become dangerous and was requiring a lot of maintenance. They were looking for a more modern, low maintenance finish to inject some much-needed life into their space.

After discussion, we proposed a raised terrace which extended both to the back and front of the property. This new area would be accessible on all sides via two sets of steps and an opening at the front of the property. As it wrapped around the whole front corner of the house it was in full sun all day long.

Egyptian limestone was selected as both the paving stone and wall cappings, creating continuity throughout the space. As the area was vast and a regular drainage channel would be very much on show from all sides, a brickslot drain with just a 10mm opening was run the whole way around making it almost impossible to see.

Lastly, two block built raised planters were built near the back door to partially close off the area making it feel more like a room and to add a bit of colour amongst the paving and rendered walls.
